Dear Soulmate,
If you live in Boston then you know how inconvienient taking the T can be. If you do not live in Boston, or have never been, then you probably do not know that the T is what we call our subway system.
And today as I sat unethusiastically reading the Metro, my mind wandered to the few times when riding the T was more enjoyable and even enviable. My mind wandered back to the guy who I have just decided to call Thursday- the handsome stranger who introduced himself to me a few weeks ago.
He has perhaps the most beautiful brown eyes I have ever seen. I think he is a few inches taller than me, but I struggle to remember. I only know that he is from the west coast and that we both share the same university and major in common. But that is as far as my knowledge of him goes.
And now, as I sit here and write to you, I crave to learn more. Finding out new information about people who interest you is like reading a good book. And then when the moment is over and they go in a separate direction, it is like being rudely interrupted and forced to put a bookmark in between the pages.
But I wonder where to place the bookmark in a story that has barely been read. Do you start over the next time you see one another? This is exactly what I feel like I am doing every weekend when we meet for our weekly staff meeting.
Sometimes I feel like reintroducing myself, just to get his attention. Other times I prefer just to watch him and observe from a distance, attempting to learn new clues that may give away any more information about who he is.
And then I smile at the revelation that even books that are slow to start suddenly become some of the best-selling page turners.
Love, R
